The rain was pounding on the windows outside, and it was a late Tuesday afternoon. Darkness had not yet set over the grounds of Hogwarts, though it would only be around an hour before the sun disappeared and the moon took over. Rumour was it would be a full one that night. Kaelyn sat in one of the arm chairs infront of the roaring fire in the busy common room. The students didn't have the chance to go out that afternoon, because of all the rain, so they had all been holed up in here after classes, counting down the hours till dinner. And now dinner had just finished, they were trying to make the most of the day despite the weather outside.
Kaelyn had just returned from dinner herself, taking a little longer to eat it as she had been lost in thought. Her friend Hunter had been acting rather strangely at the table, wolfing down his food and wanting to get away from everyone as soon as he could. Kaelyn had managed to convince him to meet her by the fireplace later that evening, and he had reluctantly accepted, before disappearing back to his dorm room. Worried about why her friend of six years did not want to be around people, Kaelyn sat with a frown staring into the twirling flames of the fire, not noticing someone had occupied the chair next to her for a good few minutes, when she finally turned to see that Hunter had kept his promise ..

It really, really was a hard time being a wolf, you always had at least one time a month that you felt like everything was going to go wrong. And well, sometimes it did go wrong, and this was about the time that he had been like that. He knew that the moon was going to be full that night, and he did not want to hurt anyone, but he had such a hard time remembering to take his potions, and being able to get through the night. He had many scars on his body, but no one saw them, he had made sure to hide them all, and make sure no one ever knew. How would he be if he hurt his friends, that would be a hard time on him, though he was a dark man, he would hurt who he had to, to get the things that he wanted. For now though, he had to keep up the game, and not let anyone know about anything, the only people that knew he was a wolf was the headmaster and the professors, they were the only ones he wanted to know about this as well. He was feeling odd that day, he had been keeping away from a lot of people as he spent the time working and getting through the day.
When it was dinner time he had sped through his food, just eating whatever he could get his hands on, and eating a lot of it. Since when it was that time of the month, he was always hungry and just ate everything and as fast as he could. When he was done, he was going to leave and head down to the potions master to get some of the things that he was going to need. When he was stopped by his friend, he promised Kaelyn that he would meet her in the common room later that night, for now he had to get that potion. He went running to the potion master Dean, and got what he needed, he was going to be safe that night, taking the potion he made a face and then went back to the common room. It was really late, and he knew that the moon was going to come up soon, he would have to think of some way of getting away from her so that she was not going to get hurt, from the things that he was going to be doing. Getting into the room he had made his way to the chair that he liked to sit in, shrugging softly he turned to her and smiled, his soft, warm smile that he always had for his best friend. "Don't look so surprised, you asked me to come and sit tonight, so here I am." He smiled again as he took a hold of her hand some and was playing around with it again.

And there he was, just as he had promised. The blonde Hufflepuff who was practically the male version of herself, or so she thought. To see his smile reassured Kaelyn for a few moments that he was okay, and he was simply having an off day. But he seemed to have these off days so often that she couldn't keep up with him anymore. All she could do was let him know that she was there, and hope that he could sort out the rest himself. Whatever it was that seemed to get him down now and then, Kaelyn only hoped he would admit to her one day. Until then, she would wait patiently. The Hufflepuff returned Hunter's smile with one of her own and glanced at his hands as he took her own and began to play with it. It was a comforting little thing he liked to do every now and then, and Kaelyn's smile remained as she thought about how soft his hands were.
Since they had first met back in their first year, Kaelyn had always found the Hufflepuff next to her attractive, though she had never dared to admit it to him. Partly for fear of ruining their friendship, and partly because she was just too shy. So she sat quietly for a few moments just watching their hands before she let out a giggle. "I didn't doubt that you'd turn up Mr Carrow," Kaelyn informed him, glancing back at the fire for a brief moment before her gaze returned to Hunter. "It's just - I worry about you, I really do. When you act all weird like this and don't tell me what the matter is," the Hufflepuff told him softly, frowning as she recalled the times she had asked him what was wrong in their first few years. She had eventually given up and just accepted that he had mood swings or something. What else could it be? Kaelyn couldn't think of anything.[/color]

He couldn’t help but feel pulled to her when he is in times like this, they were always so close and he did not know what it was that he was going to do with out her, though knew in the end he was going to hurt her with the truth. Her hands were so soft, and he liked to just hold onto them, it made him feel like he was actually wanted there at the school, that he was someone that people would want to be around and get to know. Everything that he had always wanted to be like, just a normal person that was all that he wanted to be, and she made him feel like that, even with everything else. So when he was there, holding onto there hands and talking about things, he was sure that everything was going to be ok, he smiled at her as he leaned in and rested kind of against her, she was soft and warm, she was nice to him and he liked that a lot. She was his double, and now he had to pull himself from that and work on something else, he had to keep himself under control and not lose himself to the other side of him, that would be bad.
"Kaelyn, you don’t know how much I want to tell you about what’s going on, but I can't. Not now, I don’t know when, maybe later, for now. It will be safer if you do not know, because it would be something i just could not handle for a lot of people to know. No one is aloud to know other then he staff. I'm sorry Kae, I care about you a lot and I don’t want you to get hurt over that." He sighed as he moved back and looked out the window again, he was sure she was going to get mad, but he had to do it, he didn’t want her to get hurt right now, he might do that later but things was going to be ok. He moved some and felt a tear fall down his face, he quickly whipped them away and made sure that was done, he looked back at the fire, knowing that he was going to have to run away soon, she knew that as much as he did since the moon was coming up soon and he would have to go. Still holding her hand though, she had to know that he cared about her, he would only do what he had to do so that he could protect her.

When Hunter rested his head against Kaelyn's arm, she tilted her own head so it was on top of his and watched the fire as he seemed to debate which words he wanted to choose. Being so close to him, she felt a sense of regret floating off him, and knew that he was being sincere in his words. That he wanted to tell her, but he just couldn't. The Hufflepuff sat quietly for a few moments as Hunter pulled away from her, and she lowered her head in their few moments of silence. Was she supposed to be angry about his words, because she couldn't help feel a little hurt, but not angry, no. "I think I understand," Kaelyn finally said softly with a small nod of her head. She continued nodding her head thoughtfully long after she had said what she had to say, and then she tilted her head to the side. "It's like when a friend wears a disgusting shirt, and you want to tell them, you need to tell them, but you know it'll hurt them too much if you do - so you just keep it to yourself, no matter how much it hurts both of you."
Kaelyn stopped for a moment after her short explanation, and she let out a quiet giggle as she knew her example was probably far less serious than what Hunter's problem actually was. To him, it would seem trivial. "Oh put don't worry, none of your shirts are disgusting," the Hufflepuff added, still chuckling quietly to herself as she realised it would seem she had never told Hunter if they were. Yet he didn't seem so amused by her joke, and she was sure in the firelight she saw a glistening tear run down his face. For just a moment she convinced herself that it was a tear, but after she had blinked it was as though it hadn't been there. Kaelyn squeezed his hand with reassurance and smiled softly at him. "Honestly, all of your shirts are lovely, no need to get like that," she remarked, giving Hunter a playful nudge as she waited for him to hopefully cheer up a little.

He sighed, she was right though, it was hard to tell someone something, and then not tell them something. He wanted to tell her, he wanted to tell her everything, but he was wanting to protect her, he wanted to make sure that she was always going to be safe, she was going to be safe with him, and that was how he was going to have. His hands with hers, just wanting to play like this, he wanted to spend the whole night there, the whole night and being with her, that was all that he wanted, how hard was that to ask for. But the sorrow that was in his heart, knowing that he was going to have to go and change into something that he was, and rip through something else back into his life. It was beyond him o know the truth though, he was sure that she would know one day but not now. He laughed a bit as she was talking about shirts and what not, it was a silly thing really. He liked it through, he thought that it was really true the things that she had said, it was pretty right, and he would have to let it all ride off one day he had to smile again for her.
"Don't worry to much about it, i know what you meant dear. I just cant come to terms with hurting you, you are so impotent to me, you are my best friend and you have been with me for a long time now. I just, cant think of how i could tell you the truth with out it just getting out of hand. I....I....." He got up and then bit his lip as he looked out the window as he started to shake a little bit looking at the moon as it was coming up from behind the clouds that was there. He was scared, why did it have to be now, she was to close to him and it was getting to time. "I have to go now." He said and then started running for the door, he ripped it open and ran out heading down the hall, it was just something, he had to get away from her, he had to make sure that she was going to stay safe, she was so important to him and this changing into something else was going to drive everyone nuts. He was running, running as fast as he could.

Kaelyn smiled a little to herself when she saw she had managed to make Hunter laugh. She never really had a way with words, but maybe it was her wrong choice of what to say which cheered people up. Either way, he was laughing, and that was enough for her. Yet whatever it was was still on his mind, very much so, and the Hufflepuff watched as he stood up and stared out of the window before promptly taking of. Kaelyn blinked a few times. Had he really just run away from her? Her blue eyes hovered on the door he had left by for just moments before she quickly sprung up from her chair and took off after him. Enough was enough. She needed to know what was making him act this way. Whatever it was, it couldn't be good.
By the time Kaelyn had made it out of the corridor she only had the sound of pounding footsteps against the ground further ahead to follow, and she quickly did so until she was out into the entrance hall. There she saw the great oak doors were blowing open in the wind, and she narrowed her eyes to see a tall blonde figure running away from the castle. She could recognise her friend anywhere, and quietly slipped out through the doors just in time to see him disappearing into the darkness near the forbidden forest. The Hufflepuff began to move across the grass, rain pounding down on her and making it a little harder to see. As she neared the forbidden forest, Kaelyn came to a stop and peered in through the darkness in the trees. "Hunter! It's me! You better - come out right now," Kaelyn tried to threaten, though her voice wavered a little as she was sure she heard a rustling in the trees. What on earth was he doing in there, and what was that sound?
[[OOC - If you want to maybe have him attack her and somehow knock her out, so that he has time to change back from a wolf to a human, so when she wakes up he's just changing back as the moon is gone, or has already changed back but stayed with her through the night? Whatever works for you]]

He just ran, he wasn’t going to stop running for anything, and he was going to make sure that she was going to stay safe, though, he knew that when he was going to change she was not going to stay safe from that. He looked around as he ran knowing that he was going to need some new clothes when he got done with this, thankfully he had put his wand in a safe place out there in the trees for him to get when he was done. He didn’t ant the world to know what about him, the things that were something that he had to hide, he had to hide it and keep the world from knowing something like him was at the school. As he ran he knew that she was following him, but he had no time to tell her to go back, he could feel himself changing, and becoming the monster that he knew he was inside. He ran into the woods and came to the spot where he always got to when it was time like this, he yelled loudly in pain. It hurt so bad, the pain as he changed and screamed as he changed into the golden wolf that he was, howling then, knowing that it would scare anyone that was around.
After he had changed, he herd her voice yelling at him, telling him to come out of there, and so he was going to come out of there, but not like the way she wanted him to come out. He went changing out of the woods, heading right to her, knowing that he wanted to rip and tare at her, he wanted to hurt her and be all angry wolf like. Charging and howling as he went making his way out of the woods, then out into the field as he came up to her, she looked so good, he wanted to eat her, but the other half of him was telling him to stop, he couldn’t hurt her, he had to stop she was to important to him. He growled howling at the moon loudly and once more came at her, as he launched from the ground flying through the air as he came down upon her, sending his claws down across her chest, holding himself back from biting her, he couldn’t do that, he was not going to change her, so he just scratched her, and once that was done he ran off into the woods again, he knew she would be really hurt from that, and he would have to come back to her, he hated himself right then, he was deeply depressed now.

Kaelyn's blue eyes had fixed in on the darkness between the trees where the rustling noise had come from, and she stumbled backwards as a large shape pounced out from between the trees and headed straight for her. She managed to escape the first time, and the moon light allowed her to see what she was up against. A wolf. Complete with a snarling set of teeth, of which the egdes caught the moon light and sent a shiver running down Kaelyn's spine. The last time she had seen a wolf was on trips to the zoo when she was younger, but it was much different being behind a cage and security guards than to being face to face with one. The creature before her let out an almighty howl to the moon, and then in a flash it had pounced straight towards her, sending a sharp pain down the front of her body. The claws of the wolf had broken through her robes and t-shirt, and had cut into her skin, sending her falling backwards on to the wet grass.
The rain was still pounding down on to Kaelyn even as she lay in the grass, and for a moment she felt nothing but pain before she began to feel a little better. The soft grass was touching her skin and the rain was washing away the blood from her as though nothing had happened, though the cut continued to produce blood at a slow but steady rate. She relaxed in the knowledge that it wasn't deep enough for her to bleed to death right here right now, but if she were to lie here all night she might have some problems. What time had it been anyway? Kaelyn stretched down her hand and pressed on to the cut wound, remembering what she had been taught in muggle first aid classes. Apply pressure to stop the bleeding. Now she just had to do that. Till someone. Found. Her. Why was the floor spinning? And why did the grass have to be so soft -- that was the last thought that crossed the Hufflepuff's mind as she closed her eyes and passed out.

His howls of pain and grief sent shills through the world that night, he knew the things that he had done was forever going to be in his mind when he knew that he had done something wrong with that. He had ran back into the forest knowing that the moon was going to go down soon and he would be able to get back to the way that he should be, knowing that he was going to have to take her back to the castle and the hospital wing, she was going to be hurt he knew that. He ran around for a while longer, until the pain of changing back came over him and he was yelling in pain again, a pain that was also mixed with his feelings as he yelled out in anger and pain, when he had come back to being his human form he had gotten his wand back, and since he was naked he had to summon some clothes, then changed back into them now, as he started walking back out out of the forest, he was making his way back out and to where he knew where he ad left her in the grass, it was just something he had to do for her now.
He came out and saw her laying on the ground and he came to her, kneeling down on the ground with her as he wept some over her, how could he have done something like this to her. He moved and picked her up into his arms and held her close against his body as he started back to the castle with her, tears running down his face mixed with the rain that was coming down as well, as he held her close to him he made his way to the hospital wing with her. Once inside he walked a bit slower so that he did not slip and land her on the ground again like he had already done once. He moved through the school up to where the hospital wing was and took her inside, telling the nurse the truth and made her promise not to tell Kaelyn what had happened, well more like that it was him that had done it. She helped him put her into a bed and then she took over making sure she was going to be alright, he had sat down in a chair right next to her. Holding onto her hand he was praying that she was going to be alright, he wanted her to be alright.

Light. Bright light. Hadn't it been dark moments earlier? Kaelyn let out a groan. She had to get to her classes, maybe she'd have time for breakfast. Her stomach was almost painful without food. More painful than ever before, infact the pain seemed to have spread up through her entire torso. Wow, she really was hungry. The Hufflepuff stretched her arms a little and began to open her eyes, staring around the Hospital Wing with a rather tired smile on her face. Wait. The Hospital Wing!? In a shot, Kaelyn had tried to sit up and as a result caused a shooting pain to hit her square in the chest. With that pain, everything came back to her. The wolf. The teeth shining in the moonlight. The unbearable fear she was going to bleed to death outside and would never find Hunter. Hunter. What had happened to her fellow Hufflepuff? In the moment of searching for awareness, she found that her hand was being held by another, and slowly turned her head to see that he was right by her side. Of all the people she could rely on to be by her side; it had to be him. "Morning, when's breakfast?" Kaelyn whispered, her voice a little hoarse from being so weak.
She managed a soft giggle before stopping suddenly as something didn't feel quite right. Now Kaelyn was an empath, and she most commonly picked up on feelings of anger. Everyone seemed to feel that from time to time, and it was more powerful than any of the nice feelings people felt. She had trouble picking up on them. But there was something new coming from Hunter. It made her stomach turn uneasily and knot up, as though she had something that she had done that she shouldn't have. For a moment, Kaelyn bit her lip to stop herself from commenting on it and revealing her secret to the boy next to her. Instead, she squeezed his hand with reassurance and offered him the best smile she could manage. "What - what happened?" Kaelyn asked softly, hoping that the prompt would allow him to explain why he felt so guilty about it. He had no part in it, it was that creature.

He couldn’t speak right away, his mind was flooding with all the regret and pain that he was feeling of the things that he had done t her, of the things that he had done that night and of all the pain in the world. This was the true pain of suffering, though he knew that one day he would hurt her more when she found out that he was working for the dark arts, and that he would have to leave her for good, he just now knew that he had some other things that he had to do. He was going to tell her, he was going to tell her the truth and not let something like this hide behind him for so long. He had stayed with her the whole time that she was out, the whole night as she was being healed up and brought back to the state that she had been in before he had run out of the room and had done them terrible things to her, he was so sorry and he knew that no matter what he said, it was never going to make up for the things that he had done to her, and he knew that this was going to be the end of there friendship.
When he heard her stir and was asking about food, he couldn’t help a small laugh, that was silly, and how did she do that, how did she always make him smile and make him laugh when he was so upset over things. He held onto her hand and looked at her, sorrow and pity, as he held onto her hand with his own. "The truth, Kae, something that I have been hiding from you for so long, so that you would never be hurt from that things that I did, and yet now you have been and it is all my fault that you are like this. I'm a werewolf Kae, that is why every month i run away, i become something more and something different and i never meant to hurt you like this. I never wanted you to get hurt that was why I always ran away, always told you not to follow me, so that something like this would never happen. And, now it has, and now i have to tell you so you know the truth. But you can't tell anyone, only the head of the school and the professors know this, so please tell me you wont tell anyone. And i promise to leave you alone and never hurt you again like that." He sighed softly, and waited he was going to wait for what she had to say before he was going to leave her and let her heal up again, so that she would never have to deal with him again. It made him sad, but he knew that this was going to be the best, at least he thought so.

Kaelyn's prompt for Hunter to tell her why she was sensing regret coming off him seemed to have worked, but she would never have guessed his explanation. Not in a million years. She would have easily guessed he was secretely a woman over the fact that he was a werewolf. After all, she had never come across a real one, she had only heard of them in her muggle stories and in care of magical creatures. They turn every full moon. Blah blah. She had dismissed it as something she'd never need to know, but now here was her best friend, admitting to her that he had been the wolf that had dug his claws deep into her skin. Her stomach turned over at the reminder.
He had done that. The Hufflepuff's hand returned to her stomach where she was bandaged up but when she applied a little pressure she still felt a little pain. The nurse had no doubt healed the cuts, they would be fading as they spoke, but the scars of what had happened that night were never going to go away. "I -" Kaelyn began, then shook her head lightly and felt some of her hair fall over her face. She really wanted to just burst out crying. To hit him until he was sore. But most of all, she wanted to hug him. To let him know it would be alright. "I'm more angry that you didn't think you could tell me," the Hufflepuff remarked quietly, her blue eyes fixing on her hand in Hunter's and giving it a squeeze as she had done earlier that night. "How long have you been - like this for?" Kaelyn whispered, finally raising her head to meet Hunter's eyes. He seemed a little different now she knew his secret, a little darker. He attacked people. He had probably killed a few in his time. Could she really trust him? Yet she continued to hold on to his hand and finally gave him a small smile. They both had their secrets, and he still didn't know about Kaelyn's ability to pick up on other people's feelings and emotions. It would no doubt come out shortly, since he had told her all about him. It would eat away at her with guilt if she didn't return the favour.

He sighed, sure, he could have told her a long time ago, but he had been told that he could not tell anyone, and that he had to make sure that everyone was going to be safe. No he had been messing around with this for a long time, and he had no idea how things were going to be. He cared about her a lot, and he wanted only the best for her as well, so he had no idea that something like this was going to happen to her and all. He held onto her hand though, he wanted her to know that things were going to be alright, though he could not look at her, he was hurting to bad to let himself look at the angle that he was talking to. He bit his lip when she asked him the things that she was asking him, he had t think about how he was going to tell her the truth, and the things that she was thinking. She probably thought that he had killed many people because of this, that he would go and hunt people just because of what he was. That thought made him cringe inside, he had never killed anyone, nope never a single soul.
"I wasn’t you to know the truth and so I am going to tell you the truth about that. First thing, I have been like this since almost birth, my grandfather changed me when i was one years old. My mother, and father, grandfather and so on back have been like this for a long time. I had to keep it from you because I was told that i was not aloud to tell anyone about this, because people would want me to go away from the school, that i would go to Azkaban if other people knew the things that were wrong with me. Second thing, I have never killed anyone, what happened with you, that was an ascendant, and I didn’t mean for that to happen, it just seemed to do something like that. Normally i just scratch myself, and hurt myself so that no one would get hurt. I'm sorry so much Kae, I'm sorry that this happened to you, and im sorry that i had to keep it from you for so long. You don't want to be friends with me, a freak that I am, im sorry and i should go now." He said as he got up still holding onto her hand, he then sighed and moved, leaning over and kissing her on the cheek before he got up and was going to head to the door, he did not want to hurt her any more.

Kaelyn listened as Hunter began to tell her the story of how he had come to be as he was. Knowing all this now seemed as though she didn't know the boy holding her hand at all, but she could still remember his smile, and the kiss that he left her with on the cheek. That was enough to make up for the lies. It was when Hunter called himself a freak that Kaelyn closed her eyes for a moment. She had long considered herself a freak too, always been able to feel what other people were feeling wasn't easy on her. Having to go through every wave of anger, every moment of sadness with those around her. What she would give to just tell Hunter now.
But he was already half way across the hospital wing on his way out, and Kaelyn quickly pulled the covers off from on top of her, frowning a little when she felt her bandage moving as she did so. Flipping her legs out on to the side of the bed, Kaelyn glanced down to see she was still in the same pair of jeans, now a little stained with mud from having been outside for so long. The nurse wouldn't like the mess Kaelyn was leaving, but she could hardly help it. On top she had a bandage on and a loose white t-shirt that the nurse must have put on her, because she had never seen it before. Moving across the cold floor after Hunter, Kaelyn stumbled up closer to him and managed to get infront of him before he reached the door. "Now wait right here," Kaelyn remarked, blocking his path and trying to make herself taller than she actually was. "I don't think you're a freak. Not at all. You and I - we're more similar than you might imagine," Kaelyn informed him, feeling a wave of sadness passing off him. She stood on her tip toes and leaned in to leave a kiss on his cheek in return for the one he had given her. "It might be risky having me around - but I'll know when to keep away now, and we'll be fine," the Hufflepuff added, offering Hunter a light smile as she returned from standing on tip toes to simply standing before him and peering up at him with her clear blue eyes. She cared about him too much to let him go.
