The pounding sound of trainers moving through the corridors rang out through the quiet castle. It was late morning and Aiden had just been let out of Charms early for destroying the classroom, or something like that. How was he supposed to know the charm to shatter all glass in the vicinity really did what it said? The Gryffindor now had just under an hour to kill before lunch was served, and his stomach was already complaining about the wait. Deciding that he could use this time productively (which he rarely ever did) he was on his way to the Library to most likely struggle over some homework. He wasn't the best of students, but when he could be bothered to try he wasn't the worst either. So off he went to the library, breaking out into a jog halfway there for some much needed excitement. All the hours spent cooped up revising for NEWT exams made him crave it.
The sixth year skidded around the corner and into the quiet Library, stopping in the doorway for a moment to catch his breath and look around for an empty table. He was already receiving some glares off the librarian and a few Ravenclaws hidden behind a pile of books, maybe he should be a little more quiet - "Whaa!" Aiden yelled out as he began to walk into the Library and moved straight into the nearby bookcase. Quickly grabbing ahold of some of the falling books, Aiden winced as most of them missed his hands and fell straight to the floor before him. "Sorry, sorry," Aiden quickly called out to the students who had raised their heads from their books to frown at him. Quickly gathering the books and returning them to their original positions (roughly), Aiden kept a hold of a book on Care of Magical Creatures, something which he wasn't all that bad at (though he never admitted that). Nodding his head briefly at the librarian, Aiden flashed her a smile and began to shuffle past the bookshelf. "I'll just take this one - and go away," Aiden muttered, and he turned to move to a nearby table when he caught sight of a girl sitting in the corner of the room, staring at him from behind a book. It was Roxie. And Aiden stopped walking for a moment, his stomach doing flips as he remembered how beautiful she was. Now just go and hide behind your book. You'll never be able to have her.

She’d escaped her Slytherin companions and had made a beeline for the library, Roxie was tired today which was probably an understatement to how she felt; she was shattered all she felt like doing, was curling up and going to sleep but she knew that was out of the question especially with lessons later that day. The young Slytherin frowned dodging a gaggle of first years as they sped down the corridor chattering excitedly about all the secret passageways they’d discovered, she raised an eyebrow in their direction though none of them cared enough to look back. Give it a couple of months then the children would behave, it wouldn’t take long for them to learn their place at the school either as; cannon fodder for the older students as they dodged detentions or prank practises for the other students. A fresh smirk graced her features as she remembered her time as a first year, she’d hidden behind Blake for most of the year before finally, she became one of the Slytherin forces to be reckoned with, it wasn’t long after that she’d found her own gang of Slytherin girls to hang out with, all of them her same age first year's but that was good. It meant they had something to work towards, and Roxie loved a challenge. Entering the library Roxie pushed open the large wooden door, stepping inside gracefully as she shut the door behind her. She liked the library it was a nice contrast to the outgoing part of her personality, she could get some peace here if she was feeling stressed (or in this case tired) as it was just that relaxing. Humming a low tune she picked up a book from one of the many shelves grasping the spine tightly taking in its musky smell, she loved the smell of books it was as if you could tell the book would be could through its age, and Roxie loved her classics, something she never really shared with her friends who were too very much interested in the new Wizard world bestseller that normally consisted of something cliché romance between a young miserable witch and a vampire. The book she’d chosen was an old collection of favourites, Roxie loved Beedle The Bard. Tucking it under her arm she carried it to one of the many arm chairs at the end of library and began to lose herself in the book. A noise however startled her, darting her dark eyes up they landed on Aiden Philips, he was a Gryffindor a year older than her and a half-blood. She watched as a book skidded across the floor and Aiden’s eyes met hers. A loose grin twisted across her face as she bent down to pick it up, gracefully striding over. “You dropped this...” she muttered handing it back to him meeting his eyes once again, they were pretty; dark and somewhat alluring but she darted her gaze away and her frown returning. “You should be more careful I’d, hate for something bad to happen to a Gryffindor” she continued sarcastically staring up at the boy before her.

Aiden was about to shuffle away to a table to sit and watch Roxie from behind a book when he realised she was standing up, and walking right towards him. His heart began to pound in his chest. Was he really about to talk to her? Sure they had exchanged words since she had come to Hogwarts, her being a year younger after all, but it was always her playfully insulting him infront of her friends. Never anything as harsh as what her brother would ever say, but it hurt far worse to have her say it. She moved towards him, her body moving as gracefully as ever, and stopped right before him, causing Aiden to stare at her a little dumbfounded. Glancing over his shoulder as she began to address him, Aiden had to make sure it was really him she was talking to. It had happened before. Reaching out his hand to take back one of the books he had knocked off the shelves, Aiden stared down as their two hands were holding the same book for a moment. If it weren't for that book, they would be holding hands. The Gryffindor shook his head lightly to stop himself from being so stupid.
"Thanks," Aiden simply said, securing the book on Charms under the Care of Magical Creatures one. Compared to that one, he'd actually need to read the Charms book to help him in lessons. He sucked at those. "Oh don't worry, I will be, I know you'd miss me," the Gryffindor quickly remarked, a chuckle passing across his lips as he smiled at Roxie. For a moment he had been sure she was lightening up with him, but then a frown had returned to her face and she was simply staring at him with a look of boredom, as she usually did. "I mean - I hope you would?" Aiden slowly tested, his smile still on his lips to show that he was only messing around, however much his heart denied that it was a joke.

“I’d miss you..” she said with a chuckle “perhaps, I mean who would have to tease if you were gone” she said flashing a carefree grin, as she turned back to face the Gryffindor boy as he tried to fix what he’d said. “Hope... I gave up hoping” she said almost distantly before inwardly shaking herself her eyes blinked rapidly as she mentally scolded herself. “What are you reading anyway” she asked hopefully distracting him from that last statement, “I only read classics myself though, not that many people here are interested in them” she said almost sourly, she only wished her friends shared that interest but she knew they wouldn’t, she peered round trying to read the book in his hand curiously knitting her eyebrows as she squinted to get a better look. “Interesting, care of magical creatures?” she continued “I’m not too keen on that lesson, I guess animals just don’t like me” Roxie remembered the time her parents tried to get her a cat, the creature hated her on sight and took every opportunity it had to claw or bite her, sure Roxie loved the idea of having a pet she only wished that idea appealed to the animals she was interested in keeping. A little owl or a dog would have been perfect.
“Sorry- I mean, whatever” she said after realising she’d zoned out attempting to regain her cool demure “So do you read a lot? Or did you discover this place by accident?” she questioned sitting herself down at one of the chairs on the table he’d been sitting at. She wondered if he would take her offer for conversation though most people wouldn’t after all, she was Blakes sister and though she loved him sometimes his bad reputation was to overbearing. (though of course Roxie didn’t take her own reputation into account).

Aiden couldn't help a light smile from appearing on his face when Roxie said she would miss him, though he chose to ignore the chuckle and comment following it. It would be nicer to have those words remaining in his mind for the rest of the day. Then for a moment when she mentioned giving up hope, Aiden tried to catch her gaze to try and understand what she was referring to. She had so much behind those eyes that at time she appeared open because of how deep she was. Yet to Aiden, he still struggled to understand her. And he was even more confused at the fact that she was making light conversation with him. What happened to all the dirty glances in the corridors, and the gossiping behind his back.
When Roxie told him she only really liked the classics, Aiden brought his hand up behind his head and nervously tousled his hair around at the back. "Oh yeah, the classics, there's some er - good ones, like that one about - that man," Aiden rambled, knowing fine well that he rarely picked up books, let alone be able to know the difference between a classic and a new one. Apart from the date published of course. Thankfully she seemed quite interested in the title of the book he was carrying, and Aiden finally dropped his hand from the back of his head and used it to turn his book up to look at, as though he had forgotten what it was about already. Honest, he hadn't. "It's the only thing I can do decently," Aiden remarked with a low chuckle, a little ashamed at admitting that he wasn't excelling in any of his other subjects. Oh, way to go. Here she was, all intelligent and reading her classic books in the corner, and you've just admitted that you're no good at anything but looking after bloody animals. That's going to get you some brownie points for sure.
Clearing his throat as though the sound of it would force the voice inside his head to shut up, Aiden laughed a little when Roxie suggested he had stumbled upon the Library by accident. "There was a bit of an incident in the Charms classroom - the good thing is no one was hurt. But we got out early and I thought I'd do a bit of homework catch up," Aiden remarked, motioning towards his book and then moving over to sit down on the table next to her, suddenly feeling awkward standing up by himself. Setting the book down with a light thud, Aiden then turned back to look at Roxie and couldn't stop from smiling at her. She was even more attractive when you were talking to her. "So you're here reading your classics and watching people like me make a fool out of themselves?" Aiden remarked with a grin.

“Oh really?” said Roxie as she crossed her legs “It’s my worst class really, I just don’t have a knack for it” she admitted “but like I said, Animals just don’t like me, must be the Slytherin in me I guess” Roxie grinned. She let out a small laugh as he mentioned the classics he knew off, musical and unusually innocent; it wasn’t laced with poison or the usually taunt it carried when she laughed at others. She didn’t understand how strangely open she was being, normally if a Gryffindor crossed her path and tried to talk to her she’d have retorted with a cutting remark and sashayed away with her friends. God, what would they think of her now, they’d be full of rumours to spread and if she didn’t know better (and trust me she did) they’d try to cast her out of the group. Though if they did that she’d just get Blake, involved he was terrifying enough to get those little sheep to take her back, either that or she’d do something scandalously terrible and get accepted that way. She sighed mentally Roxie didn’t want to do either of those things sure she loved to party and she loved a good scandal (to gossip about) when it suited but she wasn’t off the rails and she wasn’t truly evil. Such a damming word, so many people had different views on the subject that it was hard to keep track of it, though Roxie knew as well as anyone that not everyone’s view was the right view. “Well to be honest at least your good at something” she noted “it’s better than nothing, I find my best lessons surprisingly Defence against the dark arts” it was easy for most people to assume that Gryffindors would be the best at it, being brave and noble at heart. She found herself grinning again as he told her about the incident in charms. “Ah well I’m sure they’ll get over it” said Roxie “At least no one got hurt, I wonder If I’ll have a lesson later today then... Hopefully not, guess I’ll have to thank you Mr Gryffindor” she smirked as she played with the end of her wand in her robes pocket. “Me? I was just after some quiet, though I think I’m enjoying this conversation much more. If you’re good at Care at magical creatures you’ll have to help me out sometime” she nodded, she was far too proud to say her homework sucked and she needed a lot of help, that’s as far as she would come with a plea for help. “Ah well you see” began Roxie with a unmistakably friendly grin “Ah you see for us Slytherins watching people make a fool of themselves is a daily pass time” she grinned (Almost like the Hufflepuffs and finding things**[1]) “Can’t say it’s one of my true favourites though. So what about you; coming in here throwing your books everywhere” she added meeting his gaze again, her cheeks tinting a shy rose colour as she found herself drawn back to his eyes.
OOC- I hope someone got the "A very Potter Musical" reference. there..**[1]

Aiden chuckled to himself when Roxie joked animals didn't like her because of the Slytherin side of her. So far, he would only guess she was a Slytherin from her rather quiet and mysterious nature, and also for the sly comments she usually made when around friends. But here he was pretending like he knew her. He didn't. Not yet anyway. Aiden nodded his head in agreement when she resumed talking. "Defence Against the Dark Arts, huh?" Aiden remarked, actually surprised that this was her best subject. "You took me more as a - Potions kind of girl, you know over a steaming cauldron in the darkness of the dungeons, plotting revenge like they do in one of those classic books," Aiden laughed, running a hand through his hair while his eyes remained fixed on her. She was being surprisingly honest with him, and he was delighted that he had learned something new about her. Not that he kept record of what he knew and didn't know; well er -
"You're welcome for getting you out of Charms," Aiden said with a grin as he bowed for her as though he had achieved something monumental. His eyes gleamed a little when she said she was actually enjoying their conversation, however unnerving it was for him to be this close to her and try to avoid having her insult him. He couldn't help but laugh when she mentioned him helping her Care of Magical Creatures. "Oh I'll do that, as long as you help me with - well - every other subject," Aiden suggested, raising his eyebrows as he shifted a little in his seat. Was he being a little too forward? Well she had suggested it in the first place. He wished if she was leading him on she would hurry up and break his heart, it would heart a lot less than the false hope he was starting to acquire that she liked him back. "And for us Gryffindors - making fools of ourselves is second nature," he remarked, glancing down for the moment at the pattern on the carpet. How fascinating. "Although I wish you hadn't seen it," he added quietly, unsure if she had heard what he said and quickly raising his head in time to see her cheeks had turned a little pink and she was staring straight at him. His heart was thundering in his chest now and he offered her a smile. "Why haven't we spoken before? I mean properly, not you and your friends insulting me, or your brother insulting me and you nodding along," Aiden questioned with a chuckle, though he seriously wanted to know the answer.

“Ah Double, double toil and trouble” she joked “guess I never really found it that interesting, I mean I’ll do the work and get a good grade but I’m not really to bothered about potions” she admitted, to be honest potions was probably her weakest subject, Roxie was intelligent though so even if it was her weakest she still got a good mark for it. Once over she would have hated not being good at a subject but now she had a more devil may care approach to it not really bothering unless her marks were on a failing grade. She grinned as he mocked bowed and found herself giving a small applause. A tiny smile grew across her cheeks when he said he would help her, it would be nice to actually get along with animals and if she had to then she didn’t mind helping Aiden, as long as it was kept quiet. For his sake, Blake would come down on him like a ton of bricks and Roxie wouldn’t be able to do a thing about it, they’d she’d just have to be careful. “Okay then, you have yourself a deal” she said the familiar smirk returning “If we meet in the library or somewhere else quiet, then I doubt either of us will get into trouble with our peers” When Aiden asked her why they hadn’t spoken properly, Roxie had to think. The only time she’d ever spoken to him before was when her friends had insulted him or she had, why had she done that? Were her friends that important that she’d pick on a Gryffindor to keep up? But she was a Slytherin things like this were requested of her she couldn’t change it, could she? She sighed inwardly, why was she getting so bothered about it, it had never bothered her before so why now? Why was he making her question everything when she’d just met him? “Well, were talking now...” she said as she thought more about it “Sorry” Roxie murmured “I suppose I could just pass it off as house rivalry but even then I’d still feel shitty” Now she was apologising to him, it was so odd and she just didn’t understand it but she liked it. It was nice to be honest and sincerity was something Roxie appreciated. A small awkward silence filled the space as Roxie mulled over the time the two had first met, she’d been a complete cow while he had been nothing but nice to her. Her eyes lit up an idea forming. “Lets start again then” she said reaching out shaking his hand “hi I’m Roxie nice to meet you”.

Aiden nodded his head slowly in agreement to what Roxie had said. He had a similar attitude when it came to lessons, just go for a good grade. But sometimes that was the difficult part for him, and he shook his head lightly to try and concentrate on the more positive things. Like the fact that she was actually talking to him. Aiden glanced down at the carpet once again when she suggested they met somewhere quiet for their study meetings, so none of their friends would see. "I think you would face more trouble than I would," the Gryffindor remarked, knowing his friends were too out of their minds to mind that he was friends with a Slytherin. Or that he - gulp - had a crush on her. Raising his head to smile at Roxie, the sixth year noticed that she was holding her hand out and chuckled lightly when she introduced herself. Starting over, that was what they needed.
"Roxie, what a lovely name," Aiden responded, taking ahold of Roxie's hand and instead of shaking it as most would do, he bent his head down and traced a light kiss on the back of it. Raising his head again, Aiden smiled. "I'm Aiden," he added, his voice a little quieter than it had been moments earlier. After all he had just kissed her hand. Now usually Aiden was the daring one, the one that would do the things no one else would. But around Roxie, he found his heart beating so loudly in his chest he couldn't even hear himself think. It was as if he was ill, but a good kind of ill. Damn. Aiden realised he was still holding on to the girl's hand, and he quickly let go and folded both of his arms across his chest, waiting a few moments before he dared to look back at the Slytherin. "And you know - when we - study together -" Aiden began, unfolding his arms and scratching at his neck as though he had an itch under his skin (but he didn't) - "we could maybe grab a butterbeer too," he added, his eyes settling on Roxie as he offered her another smile. He had dropped the bomb. And now all she had to do was reject him. I mean she would hardly agree.

“Aiden, I like it” she said with a soft smile "its suits you" Her heart, began to beat unsteadily as he traced his lips light against the back of her hand, this was insane why now. Of all the people why him, she fought back the blush that crept across her cheeks losing only mildly so they were again only tinted the light rose colour. She bit her lip and her eyes darted across the table trying to focus on anything but the fact they were still holding hands... They were still holding hands? She dropped her grip just as he did, awkwardly and as if it were electric shock causing her to let go. What was she doing, she was Roxie Bloodmoon; Slytherin bitch and completely passive to most things, she didn’t love Roxie didn’t think she could. Her home life had drained her off that emotion she loved her friends but that was a completely different kind of love! She was jumping the gun, there was probably some logical explanation to this, it was probably too hot in her that was it now wonder she was blushing Roxies fair skin usually blushed or reddened to the heat she was incredibly susceptible to it, (which was one of the reasons she didn’t like the summer it was too hot for her and her skin would always burn the painful red). Though if it was just the heat, why did she feel the butterflies in her stomach? Why was she enjoying the time she was spending with him?
Aiden spoke again, and her gaze returned to him peaking up at him through her long wavy strands of hair. The idea of going for a butter beer, well it sounded actually quite appealing to her. And as long as nobody found out then it’d be fine, besides she wanted to go it would be nice to be herself again as Roxie had slowly found herself becoming more open with Aiden she was being more herself than she was with Effie or Zmeyette. She nodded slowly lowering her gaze more shyly than she had before. “Yeah- I mean” said Roxie “If you want to, I guess it’d be cool” she said twirling a long strand of hair around her little finger. Before her eyes widened at the clock on the wall, she was going to be late for her next lesson, Roxie didn’t really want to go though she was happy here and she’d have rather stayed here then go to her next class. “Oh,” she began almost melancholy “I have to go, we should meet up again” she smiled dragging her gaze from his eyes as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear “soon, I’d like to hang out again”. Turning around swiftly before he could see her more pronounced blush, the usually cool and calm Roxie Bloodmoon, strolled out of the library only turning to give a longing last glance to the boy that sat at the table.
